14. On fourth down, K2 is in deep punt formation to receive a snap from his own 21 yard line. At his six yard line, he muffs the ball and, to prevent the defense from recovering, bats the ball backward and into and out of the end zone.
(a) The result of the play is a safety.
(b) Team R may take the safety or accept the penalty for K2’s foul which include loss of down: First and goal from the one-half yard line.
(c) Had a Team R player recovered the ball in the field of play he could have carried it into the end zone for a touchdown.
(d) No foul for batting the ball backward in the field of play.
